Very large Antique 19th century mid Victorian cast iron fire grate in the baroque manner. The tall projecting fire dogs with decreasing globe finials, the largest with a mask to the front and rear sits above the feet which have a female figure. Above the large 23 inch wide fire basket a roaring lions head. Images prior to restoration.

Exceptional Arts & Crafts cast iron and brass dog grate, the large lion's paw feet support turned posts which terminate in 10" diameter fretted discs decorated with stylised pomegranates and flowers. The cast iron fireback is decorated with a rosette.Reputed to be from the estate of Sir Frederick Mappin (father of Sheffield) died 1910.

Rare decorative reclaimed antique Arts & Crafts dog grate, the copper repoussee fireback depicts typical bifurcating flowers, as does the apron. The handles terminate in delicate W.A.S.Benson style flower heads, all with the original laquered finish. The fine detail of this piece leads us to think that it was made for an exhibition as a decorative item, not as a functional coal burning grate.
